Forum Thread: Galaxy Bug

I just got a new Galaxy but now I'm concerned about this sudden death problem that has been reported. I really like the phone, but I don't want to take the risk.

Should I swap it out for another phone, or is there something I can do to fix it?

Do you know what model phone you have? Which carrier are you on? Most US models will not have this issue.

Christian is exactly right. If you bought the phone in the US, you are safe from the vulnerability before the US models use a different processor than the one that causes the "sudden death".

If you have an international model, Samsung issued an update to resolve the problem. If you haven't done so, goto Settings > System Update > Update Samsung Software. While you're there, also update Firmware. After these updates, you should be set.

If you have an international model and are rooted, you may not be able to apply these updates. In this case, you will have to manually flash an updated stock rom through Odin.

Cool, thanks. I'm on Verizon so looks like I'm good!

I tried to update with Odin but it doesn't work
